Small Business Saturday, Stylist's Picks!

This Saturday is the time to show your support to all those wonderful Small Businesses working hard to live the dream in the global economy. Small Businesses is where ideas are born, innovation blossoms, and empowerment gets a foothold. In New York City, in particular, it can be a rough road for young entrepreneurs who have to deal with skyrocketing rents and busy people turning to e-comm instead of the brick and mortar experience. We hope you will join us in celebrating these brave warriors and support their efforts.

Sun + Air is a bike shop founded by fellow stylist, Anna Maria Wolf and her husband, Shawn Wolf. As an avid rider myself (you may have seen me prepping jobs on my cargo bike, rain, snow or shine!), I love this shop. It is conveniently located near the Williamsburg bridge, and you can stop in to get a coffee or wellness drink (matcha, beet, or turmeric lattes!!) while getting your steed repaired or upgraded or even shopping for a new bike! Sun + Air is a woman owned community focused bike shop that stocks purpose built bikes for city riding and fits all budgets and riding styles. I love that they teach classes (many of them are women focused ) all winter long about bike repair, wheel building, flat fixing, etc. They even have had guest speakers talk about NYC biking law. They exist to support the community and encourage cycling of any and all kinds. This, to me, is for a better future for us all. Check them out at 788 Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg, or online at sunandair.nyc.

In Judi's jeans, your rump is Queen and held in the highest of esteem. Her high waisted jeans for which she is most famous and also her RTW Collection are all meticulously perfected by Judi herself. I met Andrea Bergart when she was working with a design team for the bedding I was styling for a showroom. I immediately was drawn to both her personality and energy, and once I discovered her art on cement trucks I was a fan for life! Her colorful abstract paintings, as well as her unique one-of-a-kind bead necklaces, both influenced by African textiles, as well as her sun print shirts deserve all the recognition and accolades they get. It has been thrilling to see her small business of designer basketball handbags really explode on social media. Andrea’s involvement in fashion, as well as her collaboration in Downtown Girls Basketball, an all female group of designers, artists and writers, all influence her artistic basketball handbags into functional objects of art for women who love both athleticism and aesthetics. These must-have signature basketball bags, coin purses and clutches can be seen and purchased here: andreabergartshop.bigcartel.com Follow Andrea @andreabergart
